Art sites in Ubirr, 39 km (24 miles) from the Kakadu township of Jabiru, can be reached via a one-kilometer (0.6-mile) circular walking track. To be grateful for the dramatic seasons you will need to visit the Kakadu more than once. The local Bininj/Mugguy people recognize six seasons. Beginning in the thunderstorm monsoon season between January and March with high-powered waterfalls and bright light from August to October during the hot dry season of Goring.
